Attending concerts and music festival outdoors brings back
memories.
As organizers of the 50
th
anniversary Woodstock
struggle to find a venue and funding ahead of their planned August event,
another outdoor festival that has managed to live on resumes tomorrow.
Tickets for the Electric Forest in Oceana County are
reportedly sold out, and campers have begun setting up shop at the Double JJ
Ranch complex.
It brings back memories of 10 years ago, when Holly was
retained by those operating the ROTHBURY music festival to provide meals for
behind-the-scenes staff. I took some time off from here to help her and some of
her friends/work colleagues in preparation of some yummy stuff.
It was a very interesting experience with the music, the
attractions and the ambiance. One could get a feel for how things were during
those classic 1960’s outdoor music events such as Woodstock, Monterrey and
Altamont. The ROTHBURY festival didn’t last too long, and Electric Forest
organizers went in a different direction when addressing this need for feeding
staffers, so this was a one-and-done for us.
Still, it was something to remember, and here’s hoping that
there won’t be any problems with this year’s festival, considering we’ve seen
some fatalities by attendees due to various situations.
Thanks!
