ZEELAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 42-year-old Holland man was hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash south of Zeeland, at the Allegan/Ottawa county line, on Saturday afternoon.
No names were disclosed by responding Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Christie Wendt in the collision, which occurred shortly after 4 PM at the four-way stop intersection of Ottogan Street and 96th Avenue. A 15-year-old Holland girl, driving a southbound automobile with a couple in their 50’s in the vehicle, had stopped at the stop sign and was proceeding through the junction when an eastbound SUV “disregarded the stop sign,” according to Wendt, and pulled into the path of the teen’s vehicle.
While the teen and the adults in the auto were not hurt, the driver of the SUV was initially taken to Spectrum-Zeeland Community Hospital before being transferred to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital for further treatment; his condition was not immediately disclosed.
The crash remains under investigation.
