HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Holland police were called to the report of gunfire near Washington Boulevard and West 14th Street, just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
Several people called 911 to report the incident, describing a scene where it appeared several juveniles were running from the scene, and a small, light-colored car speeding away. Another caller described a larger black vehicle also leaving the scene, according to police radio scanner chatter.
Police found a home on the 200 block of West 14th Street hit with multiple gun shots.
Nobody was hurt, according to Holland Police Capt. Rick Walters.
Police believe a group of people were at the home when an assault happened, followed by the gunshots fired at the residence.
Police believe the people involved know to one another.
Walters said witnesses at the scene are not cooperating with police.
During the shooting investigation, officers stopped a vehicle seen leaving the neighborhood. A 22-year-old male passenger fled on foot, but a Holland Department of Public Safety K-9 found him. he now faces charges of resisting arrest and obstructing police, Walters said.
”I don’t know how many I heard, a few, at first, and then a second or so of silence, and then pow, pow, pow pow. And I thought ‘That’s not fireworks.’ I looked at the clock, and it was 1:24 a.m. I hope everything is OK,” said a resident living on the 100 block of West 14th Street, which is between Maple and Washington avenues.
