HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The Tulip City turned on the municipal charm this week.
Officials with the city of Charlevoix are coming away impressed with Holland in the first half of the annual Michigan Mayor’s Exchange. On Thursday and Friday, Mayor Luther Kurtz, Council Member Janet Kalbfell and City Manager Mark Heydlauff were taken to a number of local attractions by a contingent of city leaders, led by Mayor Nancy DeBoer and City Manager Keith Van Beek.
Beginning the itinerary on Friday was a half-hour visit to Midwest Communications, where Mayor DeBoer and the Charlevoic contingent were interviewed live in the Mapleview Animal Hospital Studio during the “City Hall Chatter” segment on “WHTC Morning News.” DeBoer and other members of a Holland delegation will reciprocate with a visit to Charlevoix on August 9.
The Mayor’s Exchange Day is coordinated by the Michigan Municipal League as an opportunity for elected and appointed city leaders to visit other towns and exchange ideas. Used often by long-time Holland Mayor Al McGeehan, it was revived by DeBoer after she was first elected to office in 2015.
