HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Lakeshore Habitat for Humanity is hosting their sixth golf outing in memory of Kelly Markatos to build a home for a local family in need.
Markatos was a summer intern with Lakeshore Habitat in 2013 and unexpectedly died following her return to Central Michigan University that fall, from what was later determed to be complications of bulemia.. To keep her legacy of love going, the Scrambling for Charity Kelly Markatos Memorial Golf Outing was created to raise much-needed funds for local families in need
Each year, this golf outing has raised funds towards building a Habitat home. We are in our 6th year, and hope to raise significant funds for our 6th home built in large part by this outing. Over the years, we have heard many heartwarming, life changing stories from Lakeshore Habitat homeowners. The Cruz Family, the home build recipients of the funds raised from last year’s golf outing, expressed their joy when they said, “What this (home) means to us is a dream come true. It means being able to raise up our family…our daughter. It means being able to call a place home. Also, it means a lot to us to give back to our community.”
Throughout the past 5 years, the Scramblin’ for Charity Lakeshore Habitat golf outing has grown, and we have filled to our golfer capacity. This growth means it is necessary to incorporate some new and exciting changes to the golf outing! This year, there are two flights, 7:00 a.m. start and 1:30 p.m. start. These slots are filling up fast, so be sure to sign up soon! The cost per golfer is $150 and $600 per foursome. Additionally, levels of event sponsorship are still available and some include a promotional package and golf tickets. Sponsorships can range from a $300 tee box to a $1,500 lunch sponsorship.
Not only are there exciting changes this year, but this event continues to host a few opportunities that the golfers will truly cherish. Compete against your friends to try and win $10,000 cash by hitting a hole-in-one! Try your luck with the raffle at the end to win one of the many specially themed baskets. You could even win tickets to a Detroit Tigers game!
The golf outing will take place at The Ravines Golf Club in Saugatuck, MI. Breakfast, lunch, and appetizers will be provided throughout the day. Pre-registration is required.
