HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory, in effect until 11:45 a.m. today, Saturday, May 25, 2019.
Meteorologists predict 1 to 2 inches of rain will fall along the Lakeshore, creating some ponding on roads, as well as rises on small streams.
Flooded fields and overflowing ditches are also possible.
More storms are anticipated this afternoon and evening, with flooding in some locations.
The alert area includes northern Ottawa, all of Muskgon and parts of Kent counties.
The NWS included the driving caution, “turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads,” with the reminder that most flood deaths happen in vehicles.” Flooded roads are often difficult to detect at night.
