HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The results of three rapid-fire brainstorming sessions for Waterfront Holland are a wrap — and there are dozens of ideas and sketches for the future of the former James DeYoung Power Plant, the VerPlank property, and Window-on-the-Waterfront.
Bill Johnson, a former U-M dean of planning has been working in and around Holland for more than 30 years. He says the waterfront needs to maintain the character of Kollen park
“It’s a character that has proved to be a fitting character for this crazy community. We love it,” he said. “It’s not just the well-to-dos. You get fishing down there — It’s quite a social phenomenon.”
On Thursday, designers will be at city hall from 6:30 – 8 p.m., presenting the information they’ve collected and indicating which direction they’ll recommend the city follow.
