GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Two Jenison women had to be hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash in their hometown on Monday evening.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Rick Sykes, an 89-year-old woman was driving northbound on Cottonwood Drive around 5:30 PM when she apparently drove through a red light at Baldwin Street and struck a sedan turning left on a green arrow signal. The driver, along with a 53-year-old passenger in the sedan, were taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital, respectively, in stable and good condition, respectively. The 54-year-old driver of the sedan was not hurt. No names were disclosed.
The intersection is at the southern part of a protracted road reconstruction project along Cottonwood Drive between Baldwin Street and Bauer Road, a casualty of the statewide labor impasse last September which has delayed its completion until later this month.
The crash remains under investigation.
