HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC) – Three persons were hospitalized in a two-vehicle crash at one of the Lakeshore’s busiest intersections during the Noon Hour on Friday.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant David VanderPloeg, a westbound sedan along Lakewood Boulevard on Holland’s North Side attempted to turn left onto southbound 120th Avenue when her vehicle collided with a eastbound van. The 51-year-old Zeeland woman driving the automobile claimed to responding deputies that the traffic signal for her was yellow, while the 89-year-old Zeeland man in the van countered that the signal was green at the time.
Both drivers, along with an 84-year-old Zeeland woman who was a passenger in the van, were taken to Spectrum-Zeeland Community Hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. Another person, a 27-year-old Zeeland man riding in the sedan, was unhurt.
No names of any of the persons involved were immediately mentioned by VanderPloeg, who added that the crash remains under investigation.
