OLIVE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Two persons were hospitalized following a three-vehicle pileup in West Olive on Friday afternoon.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Brian Buter, a 54-year-old Grand Haven woman drove her SUV into the reach of a van that had been stopped for a red light on southbound US-31 at Port Sheldon Street just after 2 PM. The SUV then careened into another stopped sedan, and the woman, along with the 73-year-old Allegan man driving the sedan, were taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment, while the other driver involved, a 59-year-old Jackson man, was not hurt.
No names were immediately disclosed, and the conditions of the two hospitalized motorists were also kept immediately confidential. The Grand Haven woman was ticketed.
Buter added that, while the busy intersection between Holland and Grand Haven was kept open, one lane was blocked off for about an hour due to the accident investigation and clean up efforts.
