HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The National Weather Service has issued a red-flag warning — in this case to alert residents along the lakeshore and insland that a combination of dry conditions, gusty winds, and warm temperatures will lead to an increased wildfire risk this afternoon thought 8 p.m. today, April 22, 2019, especially north of a line from Holland to Mount Pleasant.
A red-flag warning means that critical fire weather conditionsare either occurring now or will shortly. The combination of strong winds…low relative humidity…and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
Area residents sould be careful with any activities that could potentially lead to a wildfire. That includes taking extra care while camping, or using outdoor grills, smoking materials, chain saws, and all terrain vehicles, all of which have the potential to throw a spark and ignite a dangerous and destructive fire.
Shower and a few thunderstorms are possible after dark tonight, which may produce small hail, gusty winds, and downpours.
