HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – It is one thing to help the homeless with donations of food, clothes and toiletries, but it’s another to help them in a more personal way.
Since February, First United Methodist Church, in conjunction with the Community Action House agency, has opened its shower facilities in its building off of West 10th Street between River and Pine avenues in downtown Holland to those who need it. Up to four persons can wash up at a time in this pilot program.
There is an open house for the community on this effort, as Angela Maxwell, a Homeless Outreach Specialist with CAH explained, “We won’t be running the showers, but we’ll be keeping everything set up so that, if you’re curious as a community member, a potential patron or a potential supporter, you can look at it, talk to us and ask some questions.”
The Open House is from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM on Tuesday at the church, located at 57 West 10th Street.
