HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Holland students will join the international Youth Climate Strike movement on Friday, March 15, 2019.
According to the student’s Facebook page dedicated to Friday’s event, MI Strikes Back, strikes will happen across the U.S. and in 40 other countries.
In additon to raising awareness, the students want to see a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions based on the October 2018 IPCC Special Report on Global Warming
The students are also asking:
- World leaders to cooperate in finding ways to address climate change, specifically keeping global warming numbers under 1.5 Celsius.
- U.S. lawmakers to implement Green New Deal and other legislative actions that help to solve the climate crisis.
The teens organizing Friday’s demonstration say they welcome people of all ages who support their effort to attend.
MI Strikes Back is set for 5 p.m. Friday, March, 15, 2019, at the Holland Armory, 16 W. Ninth St. in HOlland, with speeches at the Armory followed by a march around Centennial Park, from 5:45-6:30 p.m.
