OTTAWA COUNTY (WHTC-AM/FM) — John Scholtz, Ottawa County Parks’ first and only director since the Parks Commission was formed in 1987, is retiring in June 2019.
Which means Ottawa County officials are looking for his replacement.
The parks director reports to the Ottawa County Parks & Recreation Commission and Ottawa County Commissioners, while overseeing acquisition, development, operation, and maintenance of 27 county parks and 12 open space lands totaling nearly 7,000 acres. The parks director leads 22 permanent staff and 89 seasonal staff.
