OTTAWA COUNTY (WHTC-AM/FM) — A Tallmadge Township couple lost their home to a fire Wednesday night, March 6, 2019.
Doug and Kim Ingersoll of 2746 Winans St. managed to escape. They may have been the two people taken to Spectrum Health Butterworth for treatment of smoke inhalation. One Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputy was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Christie Wendt.
She told media Doug Ingersoll had gone back inside the burning home and refused to exit. He was rescued from the basement. According to police radio scanner traffic he may have been trying to rescue the family dog or dogs.
The house is a total loss. The fire reamins under investgation.
