JENISON, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – What authorities say was a domestic disturbance at a Jenison residence on Sunday afternoon turned violent, with one person hospitalized after a shot was fired.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Brian Buter, deputes were dispatched to a Walnut Avenue home in a subdivision near the Chicago Drive/12th Avenue junction around 1:30 PM on a report of three men who were fighting, with witnesses saying that one of them had a gun. Before the deputies arrived, a shot had been fired, all involved were fleeing the scene, and that one man showed up a residence about three blocks away with a injured hand.
Deputies were able to detain several persons involved during an initial investigation, which revealed that the shot had been fired into the ground. The wounded man was apparently cut by broken glass from that single round and was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment.
Buter didn’t immediately say if any arrests were made, but did say that that there was no continued threat to the general public as the investigation into the incident continues.
