OTTAWA COUNTY (WHTC-AM/FM) — The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, for the Grand River in Ottawa and Kent counties.
No widespread flooding is expected. The low line flooding may cause 3 to 6 inches of river rise today through Monday, Feb. 11, 2019.
Ottawa County Emergency Management officials are working with isolated communities that may be affected, such as Robinson Township.
Safety officials remind drivers that even a few inches of fast-moving flood waters can knock a person off their feet; 2 feet of floodwaters will float a car. Never attempt to navifate flood waters.
If you encounter flood waters, stop, turn around, and go another way.
