OTTAWA COUNTY (WHTC-AM/FM) — A 76-year-old Grand Haven Township resident, Eugne Brookfisher, is in critical condition after an early morning car-versus-semi crash, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Dill.
Police were called to the scene at US-31 and Hayes Street just after midnight, Feb. 5, 2019, and found that a 37-year-old Fennville resident, David Hindenach was driving a semi-tractor trailer north on US-31, approaching a flashing yellow traffic signal at Hayes.
Brookfisher, driving a 2019 Honda west on Hayes, failed to stop for the flashing red signal at northbound US-31, police said.
The semi hit the Honda, trapping Brookfisher. He was extricated by Grand Haven Township Fire and North Ottawa Community Hospital paramedics. Brookfisher remains at Hackley Hospital with critical injuries, police said. Hindenach was not injured.
This crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
