HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Former Holland Christian Schools Superintendent Dan Meester tells the Holland Sentinel he left the district just before Thanksgiving, after less than five years.
Meester told the paper, “ I’m not at liberty to comment ” as to whether or not he was fired.
The move comes six months after former high school Principal Darryl De Ruiter left the district.
Meester was hired as Holland Christian Schools’ superintendent in 2014 following the retirement of Glenn Vos, who was with the district for 17 years.
Meester and De Ruiter, were each named in a federal lawsuit in April 2018 against Holland Christian still making its way through the court system.
That suit alleges that the district and school officials did not accommodate the needs of a now-former female student who was sexually assaulted by a classmate in 2015. Last week, four of the suit’s five claims were dismissed.
U.S. District Court Judge Robert Jonker ruled claims involving emotional distress, negligence and breach of contract were not federal crimes.
The male student pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal sexual conduct, but wasn’t expelled and the district made accommodations for him, but not the female student, the suit claims.
