HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The Holland Department of Public Safety Police Division is investigating a large number of stolen vehicles recently, according to a written statement.
Over the last month, Holland police have investigated 13 stolen-vehicle reports. Seven ere Honda Civics, all late 1990s or early 2000s models.
Similar thefts have been reported, from Ottawa County to Van Buren County. Some of vehicles stolen in Holland have been recovered in Van Buren County, leading police to believe the many of these thefts are related.
The HDPS statement included a warning to area residents to take special care to lock vehicles, even if they are in a garage.
And, as always, police ask that residents trust their instincts and call police if they see suspicious activity around parked vehicles, especially if they are older Honda Civics.
Anyone with information on these thefts is asked to contact the Holland Department of Public Safety at (616) 355-1150 or email investigators at policetips@cityofholland.com. People wishing to remain anonymous may call Silent Observer by calling (877) 887-4536; text OCMTIP and the message 274637 or go online and submit a tip at www.mosotips.com.
