OTTAWA (WHTC-AM/FM) — Brad Slagh’s victory in his campaign for the 90th District the State House of Representatives means that his current job, Ottawa County Treasurer, will be vacant on Jan. 1, 2019.
County officials must appoint a candidate to fill the remainder of Slagh’s term as county treasurer, which expires on Dec. 31, 2020.
The treasurer’s main job includes being custodian of all county funds, property tax rolls, and certifications; recording revenue; collecting delinquent property taxes; conducting tax foreclosures; and managing dog licenses.
According to county records, the treasurer is also a member of the following commissions and boards: elections; plat; tax allocation; and apportionment. The treasurer also belongs to Ottawa County’s economic development corporation; Michigan Insurance Authority, Technology Advisory Group and chairs the county’s land bank authority.
Applications for Ottawa County Treasurer are being accepted though Friday, Dec. 7.
