OTTAWA COUNTY (WKZO AM/FM) — Wendel Popejoy, who shot 59-year-old Sheila Bonge in the head last Christmas weekend because she had been verbally abusive and blowing snow into his driveway, will be sentenced Monday.
The 63-year-old from Coopersville will be given life without chance of parole for the crime. That’s mandatory.
His attorney argued at trial that he just snapped and that he should be found guilty of a lesser charge.
But the Prosecutor claimed that there was enough premeditation to make it first degree murder.
