HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Holland police are looking for tips and suspects after the report of harassment and a possible abduction attempt of a 19 year-old female Hope College student.
She reported to police an incident that happened at about 11:30 pm. on October 13, 2018.
The woman told police she’d been walking westbound on 14th Street, from a house at 14th an Lincoln Avenue, toward her dorm Kollen Hall, when black SUV. with three or four males in it, pulled up next to her. The men started yelling comments to her and telling her to get in the car.
She refused, continuing to walk away, when three of the men got out of the vehicle. Two of them approached her, telling her to get in the car, threatening her, and trying to grab her arm, she told police.
The woman hit two of the men and and ran to her campus housing, making it there safely, according to a Holland police statement.
Police are looking for tips to find the following people:
A white male, approximately 20 years old, skinny build, medium length brown hair, 5-foot-10 to 6 feet tall, wearing a wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans;
A white male, bigger build with a slight “gut,” approximately 6-foot-1, with short brown hair and a large nose, wearing a blue T-shirt with white graffiti on it, and black Adidas pants with white stripes down both legs.
Officers attempted to locate the suspect vehicle that night, without success. A detective and community policing officer assigned to the Hope College area are investigating the incident, and working closely with Hope College Campus Safety.
Students are reminded to not walk alone late at night, but rather walk with others for increased safety.
