HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Saturday, Oct. 13, 2018, is set as Community Tulip Planting Day in Holland Volunteers are needed at window on the Waterfront from 8 a.m. to noon. (The rain date is Oct. 20, same time and place.
Tulip Time Festival organizers and the City of Holland Parks Department employees will work with volunteers to plant enough bulbs to “Paint the Town ORANGE” for the 90th Anniversary Celebration of Tulip Time in 2019, according to a Tulip Time appeal for volunteers.
Four children’s gardens are being added to next year’s display and families are encouraged to bring young ones along on Saturday to plan the Kinder Garden — where volunteers will also find family friendly activities Saturday morning.
Children need not register in advance and can drop in any time between 8 a.m.-noon planting effort.
Volunteers will be able to buy their own orange tulip bulbs via the Tulip Time Festival.
Bowerman Donuts and Biggby Coffee will be served and all tools will be provided.
Dress for the weather — which, as of Friday afternoon, promises to be partly sunny and very chilly, according to the National Weather Service.
