GEORGETOWN TWP (WHTC-AM/FM) — Steven Paauwe of Jenison died in a single-vehicle crash just before 11:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2018. The crash happened on Cottonwood Drive near Sycamore Street north of downtown Jenison, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Dill.
Dill said Paauwe was driving through a construction zone when his vehicle struck a construction grader, which caused the Paauwe’s vehicle to catch fire. He was declared dead at the scene.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brian Buter released Paauwe’s name on Sunday, after relatives were notified.
The crash remains under investigation.
