SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – If you’re headed to Oval Beach in Saugatuck Tuesday, September 18, you may have to walk a little way to get to the beach. City Manager Kirk Harrier says Perry Street will be closed at Park Street all day Tuesday so construction crews can pave the base coat of asphalt for the new road surface.
Motor vehicles will not have access to Oval Beach either Tuesday or Thursday, September 20, when the final coat of asphalt is scheduled to be applied. Residents of the Dunegrass area have been supplied with alternate access to their properties.
You can get to Oval Beach either by walking the John Woollam Trail or via the steps of Mount Baldhead, down to the beach. Harrier says if there is rain either day, the paving work will be rescheduled. City officials are apologizing for the inconvenience.
