HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – As the Holland City Council returns to work this evening following the Labor Day break, a couple of development matters could be put on the shelf in the short term.
On the agenda for the biweekly business meeting are proposals that would help establish PILOT (Payment In Lieu Of Taxes) agreements for two projects that would help alleviate the affordable housing shortage in the Tulip City. City Manager Keith Van Beek is asking Council to table both of those proposals for two weeks in order that he and the city staff can further review each one separately.
A 30-year, four-percent PILOT is requested for the senior living project off of 16th Street by Samaritas, while General Capital is seeking a 45-year agreement for its South River Avenue project. Van Beek wants to go over each proposal with Council at next Wednesday’s work-study session before they are taken off of the table at the September 19th business meeting.
General Capital also wants to enter into a non-disclosure agreement with the City as part of Van Beek’s closer look at the financial aspects of its project. Council will be asked to vote on that tonight.
