HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – In the ongoing effort to maintain a year-round awareness in the Holland area, the Tulip Time Festival is “celebrating fall.”
That is what organizers say is behind “Pedal the Provinces,” a bicycle event inspired by the Elfstedentocht, or the 11-city skating tour in the Netherlands. Set for Saturday, September 15th, cyclists can take one of four excursions of various lengths that go through many historic sites along the Lakeshore.
Windmill Island Gardens will be the starting and finishing point for all four routes, and the registration fee of $35 for adults, $15 for youngsters 12 and under includes a pancake breakfast at Graafschap Church, rest stops, SAG support and a free beverage/hot dog meal at the after-party at Windmill Island. The fees go up by five dollars for each group on the day of the event. Those who register by this Thursday, August 30th, will also receive a commemorative t-shirt. More information on “Pedal the Provinces” is available here.
This is the third straight year that the festival is holding a late summer/early fall bike event after reviving the “Kings Day Criterium” for three years in late April of 2013, 2014 and 2015.
The 90th annual Tulip Time Festival runs from next May 4th through 12th.
