HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The National Weather Service’s Grand Rapids office has issued two weather alerts.
The first is a beach hazards statement for the lakeshore area, from Grand Haven north to Manistee, including Pere Marquette Park in Muskegon, for Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018.
High wave action, strong currents, and dangerous swimming conditions are expected, into the evening. Winds will be gusting to 25 mph.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore, and are most often at low spots or breaks in sandbars. Rip currents can sweep even an experienced swimmer into deeper water.
