HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – There are more motoring headaches ahead in Holland.
City Manager Keith Van Beek announced on Thursday afternoon that CSX crews will be working on repairing two railroad crossings in the Tulip City. From Tuesday, July 31 to Saturday, August 4, the mainline crossing on 32nd Street will be closed, with the 24th Street crossing blocked off from August 7 to August 11. “These are mandatory track and crossing repairs CSX is required to perform,” Van Beek explained.
All east-west vehicular traffic must follow posted detours using Lincoln and Apple avenues, and the City Manager admitted that it “will cause travel delays … to avoid (such) delays, motorists may (select) an alternate route,” although Van Beek didn’t offer any suggestions in the statement posted on the city’s website.
Road closures for renovation and watermain work in Holland this summer are currently in place for 32nd Street and Brooks Avenue around the Hamilton Spur rail line, Hope Avenue in the Holland Heights district, Pine Avenue, 8th and 9th streets downtown, and Lincoln Avenue from 32nd Street to US-31.
