CROCKERY TWP, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 36-year-old Grand Rapids man was killed in a vehicle-motorcycle crash near Nunica on Saturday afternoon.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant James Douglas, Beau McDonald was driving his machine eastbound on M-104 Cleveland Street just before 4 PM, apparently attempting to cross the M-231 intersection on a yellow light, when his motorcycle struck the rear portion of a westbound SUV attempting to turn left. McDonald was thrown from his machine upon impact, and despite attempts by witnesses and first responders to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ottawa County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The driver of the SUV, 33-year-old Aaron Ruiz of Holland, along with his front seat passenger, 33-year-old Natasha Kehoe, also of Holland, and a two-year-old in a rear child safety seat, were not hurt. Another rear seat passenger, 25-year-old Daniel Ruiz of Holland, was taken to Hackley Hospital in Muskegon for treatment of minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
