LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Two men from the Lakeshore have been tabbed for positions on statewide panels by Governor Snyder.
In a Thursday announcement, Michigan’s Chief Executive selected Saugatuck Township Fire Department Chief Greg Janik to the state’s Fire Fighters Training Council, and reappointed Grand Haven Area Public Schools’ teacher and coach Scott Przystas to the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports.
Janik was the state’s fire marshal inspector before heading west to assume his current position in 2013. He will represent the Michigan Municipal League on the nine-member panel that serves the training and certification needs of fire departments and fire fighters statewide through preparing and publishing training standards, certifying instructors, and establishing courses of study, along with regional training centers. Janik’s four-year term on the Training Council runs through the end of January, 2022, pending state Senate approval.
Przystas, an assistant coach with the Grand Haven High girls’ varsity basketball team, as well as the middle-school girls’ track and cross-country head coach, stays on the 15-member panel that helps spotlight healthy eating habits, physical activity and healthy lifestyles among all Michiganders. His two-year term runs through the end of April, 2020.
