HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Holland City Council meets tonight, starting at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 270 S. River Ave.
Two key agenda items are the city’s rules for so-called Air B&B rentals — in this case property owners who want to rent out unoccupied spaces — and plans for the Hope Avenue renovation, which have distressed area residents.
Mayor Pro-tem and Ward 1 Councilman Mike Trethewey told WHTC there seems to be confusion over the rental rules.
“People think that we’ve not allowed Air B&Bs anywhere. That’s not the truth,” Trethewey said. “As I ‘ve stated, anyplace else in the city, as far as the business districts and commercial districts, it’s allowed. In the residential areas, if it’s an owner-occupied home, an Air B&B is allowed. That has not changed.”
City Council’s complete agenda and supporting documents for tonight’s meeting are available online.
