SAUGATUCK (WHTC-AM/FM) — The Saugatuck Dunes Coastal Alliance is suing North Shores of Saugatuck, which owns the 300-acres known as the former Denison property … land slated for low-density home develoment.
The Coastal Alliance’s suit alleges that North Shore “knowingly violating the local zoning ordinance” and that the development company is ignoring oppostion to a proposed marina trench. Coastal Alliance’s suit claims the trench would cut through the historic Singapore and Potawatomi settlement, according to the organization’s statement posted Monday via Facebook.
Yesterday’s announcement indicated that two tribal nations, the Gun Lake Tribe and the Huron Band of the Potawatomi, are appealing recent DEQ site permits.
Coastal Alliance is raising money to support the court fight against the Kalamazoo River harbor mouth development plan.
