SAUGATUCK TWP. (WHTC-AM/FM) — It’s official — a recall election will take place in November for four Saugatuck Township board members.
Saugatuck Twp. Clerk Brad Rudich, Treasurer Lori Babinski and trustees Roy McIlwaine and Douglas Lane are the board members targeted by the recall forvoting to reprimand the township’s manager, Aaron Sheridan, during an Aug. 16, 2017, special board meeting.
Each recall petition needed a minimum of 336 signatures: Rudich received 415; Babinski received 395; Lane received 391 and McIlwaine received 375. The township officials has just been elected in 2016 to 4-year terms, according to Allegan County Clerk Bob Genetski.
The recall election is set for Nov. 6.
Genetski told WHTC morning host that the recall election won’t cost Saugatuck Township taxpayers anything, because Nov. 6 is a federal and state election date. He said Democrats and Libertarians may also file to run to replace office holders who are successfully recalled.
