HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The renovation of a street in the Holland Heights neighborhood is the subject of a special meeting this evening.
It will be the second time that city staffers will be on hand to listen to concerns by residents living along and near Hope Avenue, as a petition was submitted to council last night asking for a reduction in the scope of a planned renovation between Paw Paw Drive and East 16th Street and to have six and not just five council members approve the project when it comes before a final vote on April 18th. The project would widen the roadway, establish sidewalks on both sides of the street, create a bike lane, and to overhaul its drainage system.
Tonight’s meeting is slated for 6:30 PM at Holland Heights School, the access to which, along with flooding concerns, are the two top reasons why the city wants to make major upgrades and improvements to Hope Avenue. If approved, the work would begin after Tulip Time and be completed by Halloween.
