HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – An electrical short may have been the cause of a house fire in Holland on Saturday morning that resulted in no injuries, but has its residents without a home for at least the weekend.
Holland Public Safety Captain of Fire Operations Chris Tinney says that his department’s Fire Marshal hasn’t officially come out with a reason, but made his statement based on “early indications” after HPS crews, augmented by those from Park Township, brought the blaze in the 100 block of West 16th Street under control shortly after being dispatched around 9:20 AM. Light smoke and flames coming from the attic were visible when firefighters arrived on the scene, and it took about 90 minutes to conduct “salvage and overhaul” operations. It appeared that an electrical fault in the wall space of a second-floor bedroom sparked the blaze.
There was no dollar amount immediately determined of damage caused by the fire.
