UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM) – Another step in one position search is today, while another could be completed tomorrow.
The second of two public interview sessions for a new Zeeland Police Chief began at 9 AM. Current Interim co-Chief Kevin Cisler met with a search committee last Friday, while Wayland’s Steven Harper, Patrick Boyd of the state police post in Paw Paw, Greg Frenger of Meridian Township in the Lansing area and Timothy Junger of the Eaton County Sheriff’s Department will answer questions from Mayor Kevin Klynstra and other city officials as to why they should replace Bill Olney, who retired last summer. “I think that they all have about the same amount of experience, so it’s just a matter of how they do in the interview, how they present themselves, and we’ll see who does the best,” Klynstra said in an appearance on “WHTC Morning News” today.
The committee hopes to decide later today on two or three finalists that would have one final interview before countil decides on May 8th who the new Police Chief will be.
Meanwhile, the Holland Township Board holds a special meeting tomorrow morning at 11 AM to consider the recommendation of a search committee that Steve Bulthuis be named the new Township Superintendent. Currently the Executive Director of the Macatawa Area Coordinating Council, Bulthuis was chosen ahead of Ludington City Manager John Shay after both men were interviewed by the committee on Wednesday afternoon. Long-time manager Don Komejan is retiring in May.
