SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – This wasn’t just another day of work in beginning a new work week for Dr. Tim Travis.
It was his first day on the job as the new superintendent of Saugatuck Public Schools after his appointment by the board last Wednesday. One of his initial responsibilities will be to seek a permanent replacement for principal of Saugatuck Junior/Senior High School, a post that Travis had filled for the past 12 years. “A great time to find a new building leader is in the spring,” he said. “I’m going to continue on (as principal) with a lot of support from some great teacher-leaders and a strong dean of students, moving towards the spring, and the current plan is to post the position, get together a profile and a good hiring committee, and go through the process.”
Travis replaced Rolfe Timmerman, who stepped down on Friday after nearly nine years as Superintendent; Timmerman started his new duties as principal of Lakeshore Elementary School in the West Ottawa district today.
