SAUGATUCK, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – It didn’t take a long time for Saugatuck Public Schools to name its new chief.
After conducting a pair of public interviews, the Board of Education last night agreed to appoint Dr. Tim Travis as the district’s new superintendent. He replaces Rolfe Timmerman, whose last day on the job after nine years is tomorrow following a “retirement” agreement with the board; on Monday, Timmerman assumes the principal’s position at Lakeshore Elementary School in the West Ottawa district. Travis has been the principal of Saugatuck’s joint middle and high school for the past 12 years after a stint as principal and a Hall-of-Fame football coach at Unionville-Sebewaing Area High in Michigan’s Thumb.
Travis said that he will continue as the middle/high school principal through the end of the current academic year, with the search for his replacement in that post to be conducted this spring.
