HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – There’s a vacant seat on the Holland Board of Education that needs filling.
Susan DeJong had to resign on short notice after about 12 years on the panel due to a change of employment that necessitated a move out of the area. Being a registered voter and living within the district boundaries are required for anyone interested in completing her term through the November 6 General Election, but after that, according to Superintendent Dr. Brian Davis, “First and foremost, they need to be about kids,” he said during a Wednesday appearance on “WHTC Morning News,” “and certainly to have a mindfulness about public education, what is required to change, what is required to keep, and what does that look like in terms of our current political climate, but at the heart of it, it’s children and community.”
The board hopes to have a new person in place by the end of the month. Details on the application process is here.
