HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Two men with a total of 25 years of public service to the Tulip City have been honored.
Sergeant Jon Boeve and Firefighter Eric Tien were awarded as Officer and Firefighter of the Year by the Holland Department of Public Safety at last Friday’s annual employee gathering. Boeve was “nominated by his peers for his dedication to the department and to the community,” according to a city statement, while Tien was chosen “for his day-to-day focus on taking care of customers.”
Boeve has been in the department for 15 years and has been an instructor at the Citizen’s Police Academy and Junior Police Academy, as well as an accident reconstructionist, a police driving instructor and a firearms instructor. Tien has been a firefighter for a decade and is a SCBA technician.
