LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Another roundabout is coming to the Lakeshore.
The Michigan Department of Transportation on Wednesday announced that the city of Zeeland will receive a 350 thousand-dollar grant from the department’s Transportation Economic Develop Fund to construct such a circular traffic control at the intersection of West Washington Avenue and West Main Avenue, along with rebuilding West Washington from the city’s western limit to North Franklin Street. The 1.3 million-dollar plus project, which includes upgraded traffic signals, along with new curbs and gutters, is aimed at improving traffic flow, address visibility issues, and extend the life of the roadway, according to M-DOT officials.
This was one of nine such grants awarded by the department statewide totaling more than 3.1 million dollars, and was determined from 34 submissions in a competitive process.
