GRAND HAVEN, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – The suspect in an August, 2016 robbery of a Holland retailer won’t go to trial now until 20 months after the incident.
Due to a change of defense attorney, Jeremy Beavers won’t stand trial on armed robbery charges until April 11th. Jury selection was supposed to begin before Ottawa County Circuit Court Judge Jon Hulsing on Wednesday.
Beavers allegedly held up the Dollar Tree store off of East 24th Street at gunpoint as a clerk was closing the establishment on the evening on August 24th, 2016. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, and efforts to track him down were hampered because he hid his features from the store’s security cameras by wearing a hoodie. At the time it was believed that this crime was related to another convenience story robbery the night before, but another suspect was arrested in that matter.
Beavers was arrested several months later in Wisconsin on unrelated charges, and remains held on 250 thousand dollars bond following an extradition to West Michigan in mid-April. As a four-time habitual offender, he could get life in prison if convicted.
