PLAINWELL, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A Plainwell-area teen is awaiting charges on an apparent burglary spree in that southeast Allegan County community.
According to the Plainwell Public Safety Department, calls started coming in yesterday morning from several businesses and residents, claiming that they had been victims of a break-in or had seen evidence of an attempted burglary. Four break-ins and five attempted burglaries were discovered, and detectives later found out that the city hall building and library were targeted. At city hall, the state police bomb squad was called in to check out a suspicious-looking device, but it was determined that it was not dangerous.
Acting on a tip, police were able to apprehend the youth at an undisclosed location, whose age and identity were not disclosed, and took him to the Allegan County Youth Home as the case remains under investigation.
