GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Perhaps the worst is over … for now.
After several inches of snow fell along the Lakeshore yesterday, necessitating a wholesale closure of classes from Holland south to South Haven and a cancellation of most, if not all scheduled evening high school activities, the National Weather Service office in Grand Rapids is predicting that between two to five inches of more snow should fall in this area today.
Forecasters canceled a Winter Storm Warning overnight and issued instead a Winter Weather Advisory for Ottawa, Allegan and Van Buren Counties from 7 AM to 11 PM, cautioning about slippery road conditions, including during the evening commute, and reduced visibilities at times.
Looking ahead, another storm system that could bring three to six inches of snow south of I-96 may come later today, with two more rounds of wintry weather seen for Thursday night and during the weekend, each of which “is expected to bring measurable snow to most of Southwest Michigan,” according to the Weather Service.
