GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – While the east side of Ottawa County basked in sunshine on Tuesday morning, the Lakeshore was lashed with heavy lake-effect snow.
A Winter Storm Warning that went into effect yesterday afternoon for counties adjoining the Lake Michigan shoreline from Ludington to South Haven and along the I-94 snow corridor into Kalamazoo remains in effect through 7 AM on Wednesday. Forecasters with the National Weather Service office in Grand Rapids say that an additional five to eight inches of snow, with localized amounts up to 11 inches, are expected. Add to that winds gusting as high as 35 miles per hour will lead to “difficult travel conditions” due to blowing and drifting of that snow.
More storms are predicted through the weekend that the National Weather Service expects will bring more “measurable snow” to most of Southwest Michigan.
