HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Since 2012 the program ElhartCares and the Elhart Automotive Campus have donated over $50,000 since the program started.
ElhartCares has worked with many organizations in Ottawa County such as Community Action House, Compassionate Heart Ministries, Center for Women in Transition and Hospice of Holland to name a few. In March of 2016, they chose Kid’s Food Basket in Holland as their charitable organization to support in 2017. Kid’s Food Basket serves over 500 suppers every week. 1 in 5 children in Michigan affected by hunger.
The charitable team at the Elhart Automotive Campus will present a check for $16,881 to Kids’ Food Basket on December 19Tth. Jessica Wallace is the Human Resources Director at Elhart Automotive and says the staff there is selfless.
“So may great organizations come to us and ask if ElhartCares will work with them. We get all our employees together and they vote on who they want to support. I think because it’s a children’s charity and our donations go straight to Ottawa County. We’re here in Holland and that was a big part of it.”
Over the last 52 years, Elhart has always been generous in community outreach, but the ElhartCares program really highlights the passion the Elhart Team has for volunteering & giving back. Elhart was thankful to pair with community partners Railhouse Bar and Grill, Applebees and Holy Smokers BBQ for some fundraising events.
Elhart also donates and volunteers for the Red Cross, the Holland City Mission and other organizations annually. In addition to selling world class GMC, Hyundai, Genesis and Nissan vehicles and service, the Elhart Automotive Campus is also known for the “be nice” initiative that strives to educate, reduce stigma and provide tools to raise awareness of mental health and prevent suicide. Being nice in all ways is part of theirculture.
