HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Friday night’s Sinterklaas Eve festivities in Holland has garnered national attention.
On the morning of the event, USA TODAY quoted Travis Kats, CEO and founder of Trip by Skyscanner, a social network site for travelers, as saying that the arrival of Sinterklaas on a white horse “is a very traditional thing in Holland” as one of “10 great places to enjoy global Christmas traditions in the USA.” Pure Michigan Vice President Dave Lorenz remarked in his weekly conversation on “WHTC Morning News,” “You never know if they (travel writers) just learn about these things organically, on their own, or because the folks at the Holland Area Visitors Bureau or in our office might make them aware of them, but the more people learn about these things, and they see the great quality of the event, the more likely it is that, maybe they won’t come to that event, but they’ll come to Holland, they’ll come to Michigan another time, so it always pays off. It’s great to see.”
The Gannett-owned national newspaper also mentioned Holland’s Dutch WinterFest and its Kerstmarkt in the article; the Kertmarket runs Wednesdays and Saturdays through December 9.
