LANSING, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Six men from Allegan/Ottawa counties are among the 127 new Michigan State Troopers that have earned their badges.
Among those graduating from the 133rd Trooper Recruit School in Lansing were Kyle Bos of Hamilton and Michael Shaw of Allegan, both of whom were assigned to the Wayland Post; Bradley Machiela of Zeeland, who will work out of the Paw Paw Post; Matthew Slagter of Dorr, who is ticketed to the Rockford Post; Austin Wolven of Hudsonville, who is heading to the Lakeview Post; and Joseph Duff II of Grand Haven, designated for the Gaylord Post.
As for bolstering the staff at the two state police posts that serve the Lakeshore: Slatger, Danniel Geeting, Scott Hilgeman, James Pavwoski II and Brendan Stanford join the Rockford Post, while Bos, Shaw and Jacob Harrison were assigned to the Wayland Post. Stanford was elected Class Orator by his fellow recruits and made remarks during the Thursday graduation ceremony at the Lansing Center.
Of the 160 that reported to the MSP Training Academy in Lansing on June 4th, 33 failed to complete the 26-week session. The next school is slated to begin in January; more information is here.
